2 Peavey QW2Fs,2 QW218s. Using for band. Thinking about triamping system. Is triamping going to give me anything extra. If not, then should I stay with setup like it is? I have a Peavey V4X xover,I've never used it.
System set up now Behringer xover @120hz for subs, everything above 120 goes to Tops parallel inputs.1-Behringer 1500 bridged for tops & 2- Behringer 2500 bridged for subs,& 1-QSC 1450 amp on standby.

What can the driverack give me vs.the Peavey VSX26.

Depending on your level of proficiency in speaker tuning, you could experience a HUGE boost in performance, and a terrible decrease in sound quality...It's not easy to take a speaker that a manufacturer has spent hundreds of hours developing and tuning, with all the sophisticated tools at their disposal... but in the right hands.. with the right amps those speakers are incredible...The whole QW line is in the same league as EAW, DAS, upper level JBL costing thousands more.. and EV too...
The problem is I would use the amp you power the tops with to run JUST the horns...I use a 1000 watt Carver amp for my horns...The EP 2500's in bridged mono ...are barely capable of providing the power necessary to make those tops 15\" speaker come to life, and the subs need a LOT more to really come into their own...I use a Mac 3600 for each pair of 12's in my subs...minimum...Those subs can

If I may, try using the two amps (1500, 1450,) one for each top ...and see what happens.. 3 way with that amp compliment will offer a little more but you REALLY need to get your tuning chops to have a prayer of sounding even close to the factory passive crossover.

My $.02 If you do decide to tri amp, go to the READ ME FIRST BEFORE POSTING section, and read the whole thing... especially the FAQ's...

Thanks Gadget, I've read most of the READ ME FIRST section, alot of good info but, alot of what I read contridicted itself.I'm not a pro at this sound thing nor am I a newbie either, I just run sound for my band and in years past ran sound for bands I played in.I have used some crappy gear in some crappy places .I've read through hundreds of post here and other sites for the past couple of days about the driverack and the Peavey VSX26. All had pros and cons.
I've got alot of money invested in equipment, like others, I want it to sound the best it can.
I'm familiar with Bi/tri-amping and the way my system operates now sounds better than anything I hear in these same places we play including the JBL,QSC and Mackie powered cabs.
Those QW218s,each bridged with a Behringer 2500 amp, does great, they could take some more power, but they dont need it,....I read so many times "those QW218s need alot of power to really get that quality bottom end" ...Bull Crap. When I first got mine, we ran a QW218 off of one channel 1450 amp and 2 SP5s off of the other channel and was playing in clubs for 250-400 people.
I will probably bridge the 1450 to run the other top.

My question was DRPA vs. VSX26

Hmmm, I've heard some good things about the VX26, and the huge benefit to you would be that they already have the tunings for the those speakers.. and yes they will blow that other junk away...You'll lose the DBX comps and auto EQ but you'll be ahead in the end I think..
