EQing and feedback

Hi Gadget -- got another question or really an idea. I don't have a driverack on my monitor system just a 15 band graphic EQ. I keep running into feedback issues when the volume gets pretty high. I know just going in a cutting all of these frequencies is a bad idea but how else do you control the feedback. It is pretty much what most novice sound guys do. I have a parametric EQ that I am not using so I had an idea. Could I temporarily use my driverack pa to pink noise the monitors and flatten the system out using the extra parametric and then once the driverack EQ is flat take the driverack out and place in the graphhic EQ -- hoping it stays flat of course. In otherwords substituting the driverack as a tool to get the monitor system flat and the placing the graphic and the parametric back into the monitor mix. If I am on the right track this should help the feedback issue or at least prevent me from taking out all of the good frequencies that would be helpful. Am I on the right track? I know it would be WAY easier to just buy another Driverack and I will eventually -- just hate to leave unused gear laying around.

You are on the right track in using the DRPA to help \"set up\" the monitor rig. A 15-band is better for tonal control. A 31-band is better for feedback problems. The parametric and a 31-band would be the better option. A DRPA better, yet. A 260 is best.
