Wharfedale Subs

Hi there!
My first post: I’m a complete beginner at this - and I'm in at the deep end! We’ve just bought a PX as a one-box solution for our small PA. I’ve not had chance to try it yet, but will be able to get my hands on it on Sunday.

I’m trying to do as much prep as possible, as we won’t have a lot of time to experiment. Consequently, my expectations are pretty low, but we’ll make a start. I’ve read the manual from cover to cover and I’ve read as many posts and links on here as I can. It's mind-boggling stuff for a newbie - especially when I haven't got the PX yet! The forum's great though - I’ve learnt so much – or at least I think I have! I’m very impressed with the knowledge / experience / helpfulness of you guys.

I’ve only got one question at this stage, as I'll be happy to just get through the setup, during our first attempt. Once we've done that, we'll able to start experimenting. I’m sure there’ll be plenty more as we get into this:

We’re using JBL EON-15G2 tops and Wharfedale EVP-X15PB subs (in mono). I believe I will have to set up the subs as custom, as they are not listed, and I understand I will need to input certain info about them (or will the wizard do this for me?) The tech specs for the Wharfedales quote a Freq Resp +/- 3db 45-200 hz, with an active crossover LPF 150 hz 24db.

Is this all the info I will need, to be able to set this up?

Many thanks in advance!

With the PX and powered speakers it's pretty simple and strait forward to set them up. In the wizard set up the tops.. with the information provided... that is likely only to be a suggestion of where to set the volume control on the Eon G-2's... pick any subwoofer including the one from JBL and simply modify it to suit.. that will be simple enough.. just set the desired hipass (lowest point you want the subs to go ...here the specs will be useful) and then the point at which they cross over...I'd suggest 100 hz to begin, and then simply balance the sub volume with the preset volume on the tops.. in other words set the loudness of the subs with respect to the tops to have a nice balance.

You said you have read posts... you didn't indicate if you had read the FAQ and 'Read ME First before posting section'? Technically speaking they are not posts but guides, and tutorials.. there are some interactive ones in the training module sections provided by DBX as well...

I recommend you download the GUI and play with the 260 to get an idea of what the modules are and how they function.. a picture being worth a thousand words and all...even if it is not the same as the PX it will give you some valuable incite into the workings of the PX and the PEQ's limiters, crossovers, and such.

Merry Christmas and welcome aboard! :D
