A request...

GadgetGadget Posts: 4,915
I was hoping perhaps that someone out there might be able to help ME this time...I was given a couple Imac's. I would like to give these to my girls but even though they are VERY well set up( they have dual 'firewire' ports usb, sound, DVDrw, networking...), they have very limited software..I can't afford (since my primary venue has closed it's doors Christmas day... and that's the second venue in 2 years..) and the market is about gone here... so the only way to use these would be with some help.

Thanks,
Be well...

Gary

    Hey G

    Have you tried

    http://www.opensourcemac.org/

Depends on what sort of software you're after. I use Mozilla Firefox on my PC and find it much better and faster than Internet Explorer. Search for IMAC open source and there is a lot of good programs out there. Hope this helps. :D

Try dslreports.com, its a forum focused on broadband but they have a pretty good Mac section and knowledgeable members.

Hope you find something that helps. I'm new to the mac world so im still learning. So far ive been able to find answers to my issues on that forum, just and FYI.

I used CNET for a lot of different engagements. I read up on the latest toys, check prices, download PC software from download.com and it has a lot of really great videos of product/software reviews.

Here is the link to the MAC section of the site. From there you can find just about anything you desire. Most of the software is at no cost and if it is at cost, they will tell you how to get the product you wish. There are also reviews of the software you are interested in giving you a piece of mind that what you're about to install is worth the time and effort.
