no sound

Suddenly lost all sound on a gig. Signal path good up to DRPA, good after it. Turned unit off then on, problem seemed to disappear. Works ok now. PA is moved two or three nights a week, unit is maybe three years old, in a rack case, handled fairly carefully, but plenty of miles, temperature changes, etc. Night in question, voltage at the outlet was about 119, ground was ok. Furman PL-8 power conditioner. What should I look for, what should I worry about?

Did the display do anything when the sound went away?

You could purchase a "UPS" battery backup because small power hiccups have been known to sometimes glitch out DriveRack units.

If the display went blank (not black), I had a similar problem with my 260 where it lost sound until I powered back up. I sent it in and DBX replaced something, but I don't recall off hand what it was though. Cost was very reasonable. Less than told actually.

  • It sounds like it is a common problem.
I have exactly same problem. The PA screen would go blank, and no sound would come out.
I had to power it off, and turn it back on.
This happened more frequently for no apparent reason.
From the replies, I think I should call the manufacturer and tell them the symptom.
Is there a different way to correct the problem? You know, to minimize the fixing cost.

If the unit is out of warranty...then you could open it up and clean and re-seat the ribbon cable to the display. There were a few display problems that required replacing the display.. my 2 have never glitched.. it's been nearly 10 years now...
