Home Karaoke with Compressor connecting question.

vuanhvuanh Posts: 3
To introduce myself, I'm a very newbie in the karaoke, I'm setting up very basic Home Karaoke system so this is not a PA system. I only have a Disc player combine with Computer, Wireless microphone (uhf-5800), Acesonic AM-825 Mixing Amplifier (Mixer + amplifier in one), 2x300 Watt Tower speakers and dbx 266xl compressor.

My question is I really don't know how to connect the Compressor to the Amplifier. I have asked a guy in a pro music store, he said it is not possibe to connect the Compressor to the Mixing Amplifier. If anyone ever come across this, can you shed some light for me. Below is the picture I would connect Compressor to Mixing Amplifier.

The reason I use Compressor that to prevent my Speaker being destroy.
Please help me out, I really appreciate for your help.

    Ok, now on to you...

First of all your wrong if you think a compressor will save your speakers if you get crazy... it won't... and if there is a limiter on that comp (hard to tell which DBX comp unit that is) it is NOT meant for system protection!

In FACT a compressor can CAUSE speaker failure... especially in a home unit like that. The thing is, you increase the average output level with comps...the amps duty cycle would increase heating the voice coils...not a good idea...

But if your determined... use the 1/4" ins on the dbx comp, and select the -10dbv switch position...and yes, the diagram is correct...however, I DON"T RECOMMEND IT!
