I'm sure this has been asked 1000 times by now, so please accept my apologies in advance. I recently joined a new band where the previous singer was in control of the PA. From hearing the band prior to joining, I felt that there set up in the DriveRack may need to be tweaked. Here is the set up:
Peavey SP218 (2) Peavey SP2G (2) QSC RMX2450's 1 (bridged) for each sub cab, and 1 QSC RMX2450 (Bridged) for both top cabs.
Crossover point is set at 100hz with a low filter of 37.5 / db gain is at 9.0 for the subs and 6.0 for the tops. Just curious if this is a good set up for this combination of gear. They are running a 2x3 with a Mono sub output. I believe the subharmonics is engaged as well as the comp/limiter. Sorry, but I didn't get a chance to verify those particular settings. The system to me seems a tad weak on the low end. Again, I apologize for a repeated question here, just looking for some advise. Thanks for your time....................Eddie

That isn't necessarily a bad start, I suspect the acoustic crossover point will be far form the theoretical or electrical one you set.

Tell us a bit more about your setup, like do you have the measurement mic? why in the world are you using the sub synth? :?

Are you using the PEQ's what is set on the GEQ? I suppose you are compressing the whole mix? why?

    Are you using the limiters?

    So many unanswered questions...

Have you read the " READ ME FIRST BEFORE POSTING " section?

Thank You for the reply.............As for the crossover point, I'm not really sure where I want to go with that. The sub harmonic wasn't my idea, I have actually already disengaged it. The comp/limter "over easy" setting is on 4. I truly don't know why they had that on, as they have compressors on almost everything on the board anyway. Personally, I am not a big of compressing a live band, but that's just my personal taste. They currently ARE NOT using the PEQ. To be honest, I haven't messed with them much either. As for the reference Mic, They have a Peavey reference Mic, and I have the Behringer one. I have tried both of them and got slightly different responses when I ran the auto EQ. I remember being told at one time that 100hz is a good starting point for a crossover on this particular combination of speakers. As for the read me first section, I have read through some of the items, but have been able to get through all of it. Again, my apologies as I have been away the PA game for a little while.

The most important thing you can do is get a good gain structure...I have both of those mics, I like the Peavey best.. but the BEH will do. See these posts,

For some ideas on auto eq, It's the thing that's going to do the most to help you get what your looking for.

Ya, loose the compression on the mix, and there is no way to accurately set the limiter without the proper gain structure and then the limiter becomes a "just in case of calamity" backup... which is what it should be used for...
