PA+ or 260?

Hi there,
Ive got a small sound rig consisting of 2x 18in Celestion subs, 2x JBL TR225s, a Behringer EP2500, a Z.P.E 600 series two and a crappy crossover and eq.

I am looking to replace the xover and eq with something decent and im not sure weather to go with the driverack PA+ or the 260. Obviously there is a significant difference in price, but it seems that both units will do what i want them to.

There is also the PX.. but its almost as much as the PA+ and im sure that new speakers aren't far away now so the 6x outputs would be nice.

We just hire out the speakers for various functions (mainly DJing).

So, what are the differences? Will i notice them with this setup? What should i buy?

Thanks in advance!
Dave.

No question in my mind... get the DR260.. for the simple reason you have brick wall limiters on the 260 (peak plus on the PA+) AND you have multi level security on the 260... basically, you can lock out certain things.. or everything. Like you could leave the GEQ available, but any and all tunings would be unavailable. THAT I would think would save you tremendously in repair costs...

It also comes down to a question of money, its a jump for sure to buy the 260, why then would they make the pa+ so much better if what everyone really needs or wants is the 260? Just eliminate the pa+ come down a bit on the price of the 260 and eliminate the other choices and just give them the best to start with?? I like the pa+ but it never seems to end, "oh thats great but should have got the 260" then its the next one up from there...Sometimes you go with what you can afford and the pa+ offers alot for the money, if its not good and the 260 kills it then dbx should just elminate a product that has no use

Ummm...why did you jump in here on this thread? This guy is looking to rent out his system to DJ's...They are notorious for mashing the master faders to the max to get every bit of volume that they can out of a system...

I didn't say the DRPA wasn't a good product, or that he shouldn't consider it.. I said, based on the fact that he intends to rent out this stuff that the 260 will offer brick wall limiters to protect the speakers. Unless you intend to sit there and watch as the DJ's mash the master faders into the red, and watch the amps clip lights begin to glow fire red as your voice coils go up in flames. The 260 also offers various levels of protection...you can allow access to the GEQ but not the crossover, limiters, delays or any of the critical portions of the system setup.

    Where did I say everyone needs a 260? Or the 4800 for that matter? HE asked for an opinion and I gave him one...As a matter of fact... I have a 240, 3-260's 2 DRPA's a DRPA+ and a PX... :|

I never told you that you HAD to get a 260... I went through our responses and I never said ANYTHING about the fact you HAD to get 260. I really can't figure out what you are trying to do here?

My post was a sarcastic response to what I felt was a preposterous quote by premier1...you weren't the target Gadget.
