I borrowed a friends PX for see If it would be helpful with my DJ equipment. Venus are 200-250 people, dance music. Using 2 Behringer B215d's with Hercules RMX mixer. Will get a powered sub soon. currently using passive subs with crowne amp. reviewed links suggested in "start here". Used Setup with the 215 connected to DX using instruction from manual. (came across your forum after setup) Used custom, Streo/ no sub, level at 50 percent.. Set auto level with RTA and Mic in my basement with Mic 25 ft from speakers. auto EQ 3 and AFS 6 and Music High. System appeared to sound better than before. I have not set the SubHarmonic or Comp/Limiter yet. In the past I have used a Samson 3 way crossover with a different system (2 crowns & pyramind)

Is there a way to compare before and afterwith the PX? Since I don't have the powered sub yet does it make since to purchase the PX unit now?

Thanks :D

The PX will blow that piece of crap Samson xover off the planet...The PX can work equally well with powered or amp/speaker combo's... the only real difference is that the PX has 4 outputs instead of 6, no delay and calls the crossovers "filters" which they technically are.
Set auto level with RTA and Mic in my basement with Mic 25 ft from speakers.
If you placed the mic on a mic stand 25 feet out indoors... you got bad results compared to doing it outdoors or using the "New indoor method"...

Now, if you read the Auto eq FAQ's:

you would have learned that reflections will skew the results.

As for before and after, it would be difficult to do with an analog crossover and the PX... even connecting the driverack changes the sound, so if you just wanted to see what it does to the 215's just eliminate the PX by plugging the input cables to the PX to the output cables, then putting the PX back into the loop. but try placing the mic on the ground on a towel about 15-25 feet out (if the speaker is on a tripod) or try outdoors away from all reflective surfaces (if you can).

P.S. I don't like the sub synth much, it can harm your speakers if your not careful...

Thanks. I was not aware I could use Non Powered gear with the DX. That brings me to another question. Which unit is better to purchase? PA or PX since I have mixed (powered and non powered gear)

Thanks, this forum is a gold mine of info

Depends on what you want to do.. the DRPA has all new algorithms that are fast and sound better for the Auto EQ... but you'd need to buy the measurement mic in order to get the full benefit..If all you ever want to do is mono 2 way or stereo 2 way the PX will work fine.

Looks like the PX is for me. Next step some good Powered Subs.
