166xl in a guitar pedalboard chain

hi there

i just recently started to use my 166xl with my electric guitar, and i love it! great tone i tell you,
way better than every comp pedal i've tried, and more versatile.
the only problem is that i want to you the compressor before the distortion, overdrives etc.,
and use the gate after them, in the end of the chain. i assumed i have to use both channels then, but
i don't want to compress my tone twice... what do i do then?
in other words, how do i disable the compressor on one channel and the gate on the other?

Sure, simply set the compression ratio at 1:1...and set the threshold at -40 that way the compressor won't be triggered...
