Hi guys
I have just sold my Driverack Pa that was working fine with no probs
But when the new owner recieved it he has said it has a bad buzzing comming from near the power supply
And has spoke with another guy who seems to think it needs replacing.
question one
does this sound about right it was wrapped well for poasting ?
second Question
What kind of price would we be looking at and what would he be looking for or me if he ends up returning it.
By the way im in the UK.
Thanks in advance
Roy

If it was shipped in very cold damp, weather and then opened in a warm room, condensation could be a problem. I would have him let it set in a warm dry place (maybe with the chassis opened and a reading / desk lamp or par lamp shining on it). Then give it another try. Is the buzzing present in the outputs?

Thats a 220 volt unit right? Is it the power supply/physical unit that is buzzing or the sound from the speakers?

Hi guys sorry been busy so only just got back to read posts.
yes it is the 240v and from what hes said its buzzing like a phone on vibrate from the power supply end and yes he says it comes over the outputs.
Just had a new email from him and he says its going to cost £70 including labour which if I give him that I will of only of got £110 for a unit that was working perfect when it left here.
Not sure hes trying to pull a fast one here .

How much will it cost to ship back to you?

Should cost the same as it was to send to them around £9
before they came back about the repair price I did offer £20 so I didnt have to mess around but £70 is alot differant.

The way I see it, you have 3 options.
    1) Tell him tough. It worked when you sent it, so it is his problem.
    2) Pay to have it shipped back (get your money back, which you'll be down the shipping both ways), fix it and re-sell it with a "brand new power supply".
    3) Send the 70.

Though none of these options are very appealing.

Or put in a shipping claim...but if the package didn't look abused, and the recipient didn't note that at the time...not gonna fly...

    No none very appealing
4th option if he is trying to pull a fast one ,offer half £35 and if not get it back ,think if I hve to send £70 blindly on his word I would rather get it back.
Does £70 which equates to 108.95 US Dollar does this seem fair for this repair?

In the US with tech rates at $75 to $95 per hr, minimum one hour charge, plus parts...yeah, $108.95 is believeable. I think I would call your customer's repair shop and talk with the tech that gave him the quote...it would help to have a print out of the repair estimate (get it from your customer) so you and the tech can get on the same page quickly.

Ya I'd call his bluff, or have the unit brought somewhere you contact to verify the claim.. a transformer doesn't just go in shipping... Over here the factory charge is $150 USD I believe...

WEll he accepted the £35 so not totally happy but its a result.
    Thanks for your help guys.

If he was truly not happy, then he was likely on the up & up. Fluky things can and do happen. Maybe when the tech get inside it, he'll find a bad solder joint. Personally I'd have opened it up and checked before getting an estimate.
