hello again everyone been awhile. I have aquierd a set of active tops 12 inch, they are dsp controled or so it says, but my subs are are passive still, am I right in thinking I dont need a crossover and that the tops will take care of this automactically? or would the driverack still help? the tops do have a low cut pot from 0 to 250 or so anyway thats my question or is the driverack overkill? thanks and happy holidays! So you got new tops? not going to use the Tapco's any more?

No, you still DEFINITELY need A crossover, now more than ever. You do NOT want the 12" going that low... even if they are the K12's... so you still need a HPF and LPF for the subs and an HPF for the tops.

well yes, I always wanted 12s for vocals and since everyone said that was the size to get thats what I got. I sold my Tapcos, I already have floor monitors so I really didnt have a use anymore for them. I Chose the new Peavey Impulse series active 12s, let me say they are powerfull, light and Im happy so far, plus it eliminates a power amp from my rack which I also am selling. Eventually i will get pwered subs but for now what I have will have to do. I ws just concerened because the speaker itself has lots of processing on the back, but I am going to use my driverack for these of course then, I dont want those 12s going to low, Thanks and happy holidays to all of you guys here!
