Hey all, Gadget I know you are familier with these so here goes, I baught a new amp for my subs, a crown xti..I guess because they came out with the xti2 now these were being blown out and I got a great price.Anyway Is it worth the trouble to use the eq in the amp? or will the drivrack suffice? Also the amp has an "in" eq and an "out" eq adjustment im not sure what that means or does? and lastly the amp seems to have a better LR slope of 48 vs the DR 24 does this matter? or should i leave all this alone and do it all with the DR, I am going to use the limiter however as I saw you post somewhere that it is better than the DR one...Thanks! Oh I already downloaded band manager just in case

Parametric EQ's generally sound better than GEQ's when setting up a system. If a speaker calls for a 48 dB/octave slope it's best to use that slope. However, PEQ's are far from simple to learn.

If your proficient at PEQ setup you can generally do the job with FAR fewer filters, and the sound will be cleaner and less sterile.

The input and output PEQ's are much like the driverack...your input EQ on the DRPA is the 28 band GEQ and the output EQ's are the PEQ's...

You could get the Auto EQ flattening GEQ curve and transfer it to PEQ's on the Xti's

How are you liking the Peavey Impulse 12's ? Are those the new ones with the ribbon tweeters?

Thanks ! Im very happy with these speakers, they are crystal clear and handle power well, yes these are the ones with the ribbon tweeters..im not a pro at hearing alot of different boxes but these ribbon tweets just seem to bring a better level of clarity to the mix, anyway great so far and everyone loves them, these extremely light also! never have to turn up the gain on them more than half way. What i dont like to much is the eon powered sub, im back to using passive ones for now , it just doesnt have enough oomph.

Ya we knew that... about the sub. But in reality none of those plastic tubs puts out good bass. I run the DIY subs I have in the FAQ section under the Anchor extreme's ... and it's VERY nice!.

How well do they project.. at distance, are they able to carry say 50-75 feet well?

    Thanks

As far as the Peavey's go they project very well( oh and thank god for easy payment plans lol ) ! Just for that reason I let the band before us use my pa so I could walk around and hear for myself, sounded just as good in the back of the room as up close and i was at least a good 50 foot away, Peavey did a good job with these, very nice....The sub was to lighten the load and as its always me lugging everything I wanted less to carry, but now I see that comes with a price! I feel passive subs still cant be beat and will stay with them , the plastic tub is getting returned ! One of my favorite local cover band uses passive subs that absolultey shake the paint off the walls when the kick drum is hit ! I havent seen a powered one that does that yet, maybe they exist but I havent seen or heard one, I guess maybe for a dj etc there good but live bands are a different animal.

BTW...for me and everyone has there own thing, but for me there is nothing like a perfectly set up and sounding kick drum, the perfect click of the beater and that super tight slam in the chest boom...I lose sleep thinking about it lol !
