I like mine fine, I pick the DRPA over the PX whenever it's available , and one of my 260's first, but it works well. Nice feature set, good tools, makes anything I hook it to sound better...

The DRPA looks nice but more then what can budget.
I just got through buying new pair EV ELX118P subs for my pair of EV SXA 360's
and a new Presonus SL 16 mixer. Neither cab has any x-over features and have just enough to swing a PX and was
recommended to get a DRPX would work perfect with the EV's.

Then that will work fine. I am running a similar setup with the SL16... powered 12" tops, and 12" subs...As I said I am using the PA+ but the PX would work fine. I like the Auto Eq algorithm in the PA+ a LOT better...it is more fool proof, and always seem to improve the sound ..where if you put the mic in a bad spot the PX can fall prey to cancellations and boost where unnecessary, and in the case of the subs, standing waves.

These make it tough ...unless you follow the rules.

    1. One speaker (stack/side) at a time only. (
    2. mic on the floor on a towel, aimed at the speaker/s 20--25 feet out. (or the best you do, try and minimize the reflections, so if all there is in the church is pews, set a 4x8 sheet of plywood on them ...and a towel..
    3. at a distance like that you want to be flattening the speakers to get a reference to compare with.
    4. store the preset (It takes 3 presses of the [store] button...follow the instructions on the display.
    5. You could also set up and run presets for the -C- and other "pre-curves" store them too if you wish...
    6. you can also start with the flat preset (-0-) and "season it" to taste, and store that as well.
    7. review the auto eq results (Geq) and look skeptically at any major cuts or boosts, these you should set by ear.

If you know your system you want to evaluate the way it sounds after the process, that is the time to see what you think of the sound, because move the mic a few feet and it will sound a bit different... if it was on a mic stand it would be VERY DIFFERENT sounding.(a few inches can produce dramatic changes in the sound through cancellations)

Well gadget I really don't know my system because the subs are new.
Like I said the SXA 360's don't have a built in HPF or crosss-over section.
So haven't got chance to hear what it sounds like.

Also I was planning on auto-eqing outside so there wouldn't be any room refection.
I went ahead and picked up the DRPX because I gotta gig next weekend.

Anyway if you got any recommendations other then what the DRPX page menu steps me through I would gladly appreciate it here's my spaeker specs.

    sub cab http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=1068

All this digital stuff is new to me since I've been old shooling most of my life with just a mixer,eq,x-over,and speakers
but now with the powered cab stuff and the digital mixer sure has lighten up my load but just trying to grasp everything so I get it right.

Appreciate your input gadget and how do you like you PSL 16 mixer?
I know I'm loving mine esp. for recording since it dubs as a firewire interface.
Now I don't have to have a seprate rack for my recording gear. Dig the firewire cable to laptop. 8)

I like the SL fine, there are some things that really gripe me but hey, it's an entry level piece...I too like the capture and bought the studio one pro for mixdown and finalize...watch out for the firewire interface, it's kinda fritzy, especially if your using an IBM with an express card. If the card pops out, or the computer shuts down you will loose audio and there will be a series of pops...

I'd start with an HPF of 40hz BW18 and an LPF of 100hz LR24 for the subs and an HPF of 100 hz LR24.

Make sure when you do the Auto Eq you try several passes and see if you can duplicate the results, if not then you have some reflicted energy form something, and don't be fooled into thinking that sound won't reflect off tree lines and sidewalks either...I would also suggest trying the latest indoor method, top only, laid on its side (might be kinda hard with that shake thought) with the mic on the floor/ground about 4-6 feet away...aimed at the speaker...

You probably should start with both tops and subs at -0- and use the volume control on whatever is loudest... and if you see in the auto EQ process that say the sub frequencies (40-100hz) are all boosted that you turn DOWN the tops (which is likely to be the case...and then re-do the auto EQ pass till it's pretty much equal (cuts and boosts) across the spectrum...

Again view ANY large cut or boost with suspicion and listen to the product EQ and see how you feel about the results...I usually do the EQ, set up the system and play stuff I know very well, like...The Eagles, Hell freezes over (hotel ca. has a massive kick sound when it comes in.. and acoustic and electric instruments) Leann Rimes (how do I live stunning clarity and sonics as well) some Steely Dan, and Dread Zeppelin...chuckle ... and I make any adjustments that I can hear then.. I then do the AFS and any dynamics setups..

As for the AFS do 6 fixed, and 6 floating and depending on what the system is for...what is it for anyway? use live and medium or high for volume...
