Confused on Gain Structure

Hello, I have a question on setting the gain structure. I have read through all of the material regarding this and set my levels accordingly. Recently I read (from a different source) that the amps should be turned all the way up and the limiting should be set in the dsp.

My question is should I have the amp all the way open or have it set to where it doesn't begin clipping.

That's a pretty bold statement, and if you read ALL the text printed here (a daunting task I realize) we offer several ways to look at it...this may help you understand.. In the setup and getting started guide I specify that this is site is primarily visited by newbie to novice sound types...so the method specified in the threads deals primarily with the simplest way to do things...

In the case of someone who is looking to "bullet proof/goof proof/idiot proof" his system... where the amp controls are accessible (some DJ comes along and you have the amps set based on the start here thread...and he see's the controls aren't maxed COULD turn them up, and blow the speakers...here you would want to crank the amps and use the xover gain controls on the processor for safety's sake.

I actually would normally use this method... however if your already blown away by the complexity of this technology one more thing is a difficult concept to grasp.

There is no "wrong" way here just variations on a theme...
