Does any one know if the RTA mic socket only power feeds when it is in use for the Wizards (ie when the RTA mic button is pushed in)? I was thinking of using it to power a lamp for my desk.

Console little light outlets have a power supply made to provide MUCH more current than the Mic Phantom can provide...

Thanks. Trying to avoid using a spare channel on my desk.

NEVER EVER PLUG A LIGHT INTO ANYTHING THAT WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT PURPOSE! Phantom power is only capable of micro-current.. otherwise, if it was plugged into a mic with a transformer (impedance matching though it is) (like the SM58 for instance) it would instantly SMOKE  the transformer32.gif

Well ... that depends entirely on the LED...today's high power one can draw significant power I would not chance it.. I checked with my son on this and he said that total system power on larger consoles runs less than 1 amp total.. again he says it depends on the LEDs and how many there are..

I still do not recommend it without checking with the console manufacturer...
