Any real advantage to dual mono vs stereo linked EQ?

I did a search and it seems stereo linked is the one that is normally suggested to use in a 2 way system.

Would I benefit from using a dual mono and eq'ing each cab seperately or would it just be a waste of time for such a basic setup?

The purpose of the dual mono is to allow you to "EQ" odd shaped rooms or odd speaker placement or stage plot. For example (3)... you have a 200 x 200 room but the stage is set up in one corner facing straight down the wall so that the used area is 75 dp and 30 wd. One speaker is against the side wall and one is 30 feet in. The wall speaker will interact with the room / wall and need a different EQ. Another could be in a theater (play) setting where center stage to stage left is scenic props and center to stage right is the only place actors work and speak. Stage right speaker will need a much more heavy-handed EQ approach to fight feedback. The last could be a HVAC ceiling duct that is suspended in front of one half of the stage, but not the other.

Other than this, or a FOH / monitor combo set-up, there is no reason to do dual mono.
