2231 NR III noise reduction circuit not working?

niccolositoniccolosito Posts: 2
Hi,

I'm a newbie and have a question about my 2231. I use it on my home stereo system and chose it over the 1231 and other equalizers because of the NR III circuit. I was hoping that it will remove the hiss and tape noise from cd's made from old analog sources/master tapes the way the old dbx 3bx did to cassette tape noise. Much as I try but I can't hear any change in the loudness of the hiss. Is there something wrong with the 2231 or is it the wrong solution to the problem?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

Nicco

Well, that depends on just how BAD the recordings are...Tape dynamics and frequency response are limited form the getgo, so if your recordings are poor to begin with nothing short of a forensics program is going to be able to do that without eliminating some of the signal...

Have any examples you can post so I can see what's going on?
