Ui16 recording issues

I put a USB flash drive into the record slot and the red record button lights up. I then record I can see the levels are active and I can hear what I am recording through my monitors. But, when I remove the disk and put into my laptop and click on the recordings folder and click the recorded file, I can't hear anything. It says its playing but there is no sound from the file.
Just to check, I put an mp3 file in the media player and hit play and it almost knocked me out of my chair....lol I mean it was loud. So the Volume is UP, but I have no recorded sound. This is my first attempt at trying to record with the Ui16. I have watched all the tutorials and you tube videos and followed them exactly as they said. Still No Sound!!
Any help or Ideas would be appreciated.
