JBL 1 Series 104 - Hissing sound on headphones

Good morning,

I'd like some help with an issue, please.

I've bought the JBL 1 Series 104 speakers. They work great without plugging in headphones. When I do plug the headphones in, I get white noise (hissing sound). It's loud enough to be quite noticeable.
This happens even with no input cables connected to the speaker at all. All I have to do is to power the speakers and turn the volume knob to the third possible level (i.e. very very low gain, pretty much on mute).
The hissing sound does not go up when I turn the volume up. It always stays at the same level.
I've tried it with another unit and the same thing happens.

I'm not sure whether this is a design fault or whether I'm doing something wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

I have the same issue. I'm also wondering if I have something set up wrong. The hiss stays at the same volume at all volume notches, except it is silent at the bottom two notches.

I hope someone (a user or JBL) might be able to advise us on this issue.
