EON 715 gain settings

I am having one heck of a time with the gain settings on my Eon 715s. The clip light for channel one goes from blinking to almost a steady red light by the end of the night. The meters on my mixer never even go to yellow. This happens on both speakers so I'm assuming it is operator failure with the settings. When setting the gains on the speakers where do I start?

IMO...the gain settings on these things are so confusing....It would be nice if JBL made a video explaining how to integrate all 3 gain settings in a live situation....what order to set them at...what takes precedence etc...
