Recording Multitrack session using backing track on USB stick

Hi All. I'm betting there's a really simple answer to my question, but so far I haven't found one.

On my UI24 I want to play a backing track, then record a vocal track over it. The desired result is a mutitrack recording with 3 tracks, one being the vocal track, and the other 2 being the backing tracks L & R. I used session maker to get the left and right channels, and it plays perfectly, and the vocal track records perfectly, but when I play it back, I don't hear anything except the vocal track.

I'm sure the answer lies in patching the USB-A to a channel, then selecting that channel in the Multitrack configuration screen, but I've tried several times with different patchings, patching all and selecting all channels for recording, but I always get the same result.

Can someone please piont me in the right direction? Any help will be appreciated.

MTK recording can’t run with MTK playback simultaneously.

Even if you succeeded the session maker, that’s not a thing for your purpose.

Play the backing track from the 2tr player function.
Send the player to the aux 9-10 in prefader. Get the patch from the aux 9-10 masters into the Input 19-20. Now you can record the track of ch 19-20
and vocals ( any of 1-18 ) in the mtk recording.
