Remote access/port forwarding w NS3?

I have set my router to port forward 1319 to the IP of my netlinx master(let's call it 192.168.1.50), but when I try to connect to it remotely, I get no response. I have a static IP for my high speed connection, but I can't even ping that IP when I'm remote. Is my provider blocking inbound requests? What else can I try to make this work?

So your router is the acting gateway router holding the public IP which is static which also means it's connected directly to the modem and everything else is downstream. What's the router? Try turning off any firewall on the router and ping it again. Also double check the public IP shown in the router is the IP you're using to ping. Should be your WAN IP.

Does the router have the ability to set an alternate port for it's web interface for remote management? If so set it to something that's not typically blocked like port 80 is, say 1280 or something and see if you can remotely access the routers web interface https:// or normally http://public.ip:1280.
  • Might be simpler then that. Did you uncheck the 'ping master before connect' box while trying to connect? You haven't forwarded the ping port, so NS3 thinks the master isn't there.

Exactly what I would check first. Been bitten by this one too.
