XLS 2500 to power 4 x 100 rms watt speakers

Hello, Rookie here with a rookie question. I pick up this xls2500 amp really cheap and was wondering If could use it to power my 100 rms watt speakers. I know it is way overkill but was hoping I could use it by wiring in series. Thanks for any input.

  • It is your ohms rating that should be considered most in your case. What is the resistance of each speaker? That will determine how they can be wired to get the most out of your setup.

If : Speakers are 8 ohms : distributed, 2 cabs per side: total Z is 4 ohms per side, 775W @ 4 ohms is overkill.
However, if you're careful with volume, you will have enough headroom to power those cabs efficiently. Better than being underpowered! :)
