Hello everyone! Thanks for admitting me into this forum. I’m a musician and have just started setting up my home studio. A little confusion regarding the amp: I am pretty much new to terms like Input Sensitivity. My console is a Behringer XENYX 2442fx, the Control Room outs from which are Unbalanced quarter inch. So I have procured unbalanced quarter inch to XLR cables to connect to the XLi. Now comes the input sensitivity switch which has two selectors: 0.775V and 1.4V. My question would be, which option to select, given that the console outs are unbalanced?
The speakers are passive Tannoy Reveals from 1998. So only binding posts and banana plugs options are there.
Any input with regard to the selection of input sensitivity would a big help. I did manage to read up on the subject but didn’t get a clarity as regards the sensitivity. Is it related to balance/unbalanced, or something else?
My console specs state thus:
Control room outputs:
Type: ¼"TS connector unbalanced
Impedance: approx. 120 ohm
Max. output level: +22 dBu

Most pro-level gear uses the 1.4V sensitivity. The .775V will work, but will make the amplifier more sensitive to input voltage changes, compared to the 1.4V. Your amp will reach full power with either of the sensitivity settings, meaning, the 1.4V setting will require a little more output from the console to drive the amp... compared to the .775V setting, which will need less output from the console.
