Bought one from AMS a year and 1/2 ago- went to use it- wouldn’t work. What should the actual working part of the mic look like?

    It should look like (and function) the same as any other mic. Do you have phantom power available to it? Are you using a battery for phantom power? If it all possible, I recommend not using a battery for phantom power, but using phantom power provided from a console. The battery option should only be used if no phantom power is available from a console. Does the mic have a "mute" switch (sometimes found on the cable)?
