PCM92 - Voice Distortion - Anonymizer

Hi,

First use of a PCM92.
What settings to use to distort a voice? It will be used to anonymize a voice.
Anyone has used this before for this purpose?

Best regards
Chris

    Hello,

The Lexicon PCM92 is a powerful reverb and effects processor, but it's not ideal for primary voice anonymization. Here's why:

Limited Anonymization: While distortion can obscure the voice slightly, a skilled listener might still recognize it.
Focus on Effects: The PCM92 excels at studio-quality reverbs, delays, and other creative effects. Voice anonymization requires specialized tools.
Here are better options for voice anonymization:

Software Tools: Dedicated software like Audacity or Adobe Audition offer pitch shifting, noise shaping, and other anonymization effects.
Online Services: Some online services (use with caution regarding privacy) offer voice anonymization features.
    Alternatives for the PCM92:

If you still want to use the PCM92 for creative voice alteration, here are some settings to try (experimentation is key):

Pitch Shifting: Use the "Multi-voice pitch shift" effect to significantly alter the voice's pitch.
Formant Shifting: Explore if the PCM92 allows formant shifting, which alters the vocal resonances for a more disguised sound.
Delay and Reverb: Combine these effects subtly to create a more distant and distorted voice.
