Constantly have to disconnect/reconnect USB to MTK 12 to get sound

I have a very frustrating issue where I'm having to disconnect/reconnect the USB cable in order for sound to come out of the mixer from Windows 10. Windows see's the mixer, and has 11/12 as my default output. When I start up anything with sound, I have to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable in order for the mixer to produce sound.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

I always unplug the mixer when I'm finished using my computer. Should I make sure the mixer is powered on prior to starting my computer?
