Not seeing the active channels in protools

Using a signature 12 mtk, protools 12 on windows 10. On the mtk I get a signal, say channel 3, but when I add a track to protools session and select the interface to analog 3, I get nothing. I did install the driver and do see the interface in the setup of protools. Also why is the analogue 3 under interfaces and not input, where I would expect it?
