ui16 aux 5/6 question

in Soundcraft Mixing Consoles

through a little testing of mine, it seems that when the headphone outputs are used as aux's a standard trs to xlr will work. i plugged my headphones in as well to gain a better understanding and i seem to only get sound from the left earphone in 1 and sound in the right ear phone in the other. when i switch it to headphone out i get sound through both. am i missing something or can i just got trs to xlr in to my 5th mon?
