The Future of the Ui Mixers - What lies on the horizon?
Hi.
As I understand it, Danny Olesh and the entire design team for the Ui mixers resigned in early 2019. As it appears, many Soundcraft dealers are out of stock on Ui mixers.
Is this the end for the Ui series? Has a new development team been brought on board to maintain the product? Anymore software updates on the horizon?
Many have complained of "bugs" that exist in the latest release. To name a few -
Matrix solo is broken.
Importing cue in show is broken.
"Master MTX Send Point" setting is inoperative. While it does control the absense/presence of the signal level indication on the subgroup matrix send's fader meter, the master subgroup fader setting and the master subgroup mute state have no effect on the subgroup matrix send level. You can have the master subgroup fader at unity and the master subgroup mute "on" and the subgroup matrix send fader will still send signal to the assigned matrix.
Isolate channel feature doesn’t isolate the gain of the channel
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I've found these to be a wonderful product in the realm of surfaceless mixers and would really hate to see them go by the wayside.
For the Master MTX Send Point bug...using a pink noise track as my signal source -
Here you can see that the subgroup matrix send fader is at unity. While there is no indication on the subgroup matrix send fader meter, it is sending signal to the MTX 1 bus, yet the master subgroup fader is at intinity and the master subgroup mute is "ON". "Master MTX Send Point" is set to "POST".
Unmuting the subgroup and increasing the subgroup master fader setting brings up a corresponding signal level indication on the subgroup matrix send fader meter, but has no effect on the signal level sent to the matrix. In this photo, the subgroup master fader is at -24dB, and the meter indicates about -30dBFS (injected signal level is about -6dBFS), yet actual matrix send level is about -6dBFS as the subgroup matrix send fader setting is at unity gain, illustrating that the master subgroup fader only affects the level indicated on the subgroup matrix send fader meter.
With the "Master MTX Send Point" setting on "PRE", the only thing that changes is now I have both an input and output signal meter indication on the subgroup matrix send fader meter regardless of the master subgroup fader position and mute state.
