Learning my signature 12 mtk

Hey soundcraft family,I recently purchased my signature 12 mtk and I must say I’m overly excited….it’s my first time using the product so I want to learn the basics….I connected a pioneer controller to lines 1 & 2 using XLR,I routed to the master output but it’s clipping fast…I adjusted the gains on both lines but I literally have to turn the gains really low for it not to clip….what I observe is line 1 is louder than line 2….so is there any guidance I can get on bettering my situation??? As well as is it because it’s a mono line I’m using that’s why I was getting that problem??? Should I use a stereo line instead??
