Soundcraft sig 12 mtk Aux Question

Hi,
Having recently purchased a second hand 12 Mtk. My intention is to use it mainly for live work.
So on its maiden voyage, I plugged my EV powered speakers in via the main outputs. All was fine.
I then thought I would use Aux 1 to run a monitor.
I connected the powered monitor with a speaker cable from Aux1 output then turned up the Aux 1 control on the Channel strip and Aux 1 master.
Nothing. No sound at all.
This happened with all 3 Aux channels
Where am I going wrong please?
