Ui24-Recording an instrument (bass) but I don’t want to hear it in the mix

So we want to record the bass guitar in the UI BUT we don’t want to hear it in the mix.
Is this possible
The bass is also output to a bass amp and that’s where we hear it which is our intention
But for a live gig which has been recorded we need the bass in the recording.

Can anyone advise how this can be done or point to a clear and straightforward video where we can follow instructions

Thanks

Multitrack recording will record that channel even if the channel was muted so you are asking about the 2 track recording feature, right.

2 track recording will record that main LR bus. So you may run the mix from other bus instead of that main bus.
AUX or matrix would be OK.

If I were you, I use matrix.
Assign all channels except the bass to SUBGROUP1.
    Assign the bass to SUBGROUP2.
Send those SUBGROUP 1,2 to matrix 9-10 ( set ST pairing ) with nominal send levels. These will be sent to those matrix in prefader as the default status. You can reduce the bass subgroup fader ( for mains recording bus ) down or select "exclude from master" by pressing the bas subgroup name column.

Patch the matrix 9-10 bus to any of 2 physical XLR output ports to connect the PA.
Mains only works for the 2 tr recording.
