Unassign a channel from the main mix. Is this possible?

My church is live-streaming, and all the instruments and vocals are routed through the AUX. I'm considering creating a subgroup for the drums and vocals to apply additional EQ and compression. However, I don't want to increase the channel strip fader in the main mix since that would send the sound to the MAIN MIX speakers. If I keep the drum or vocal channel strip faders down in the main mix but still route them to the subgroup, will the sound still come through the subgroup? I'm planning to turn the AUX into an MTX so that I can send the subgroup to it.

    What mixer are you asking about?

    Si series don't have the group kind bus so I guess Vi series or Ui series, otherwise any other analog mixers?
