Ui24R One Box Home Studio without DAW?

Looks to me like I could record 20 tracks of audio dry with reverb for the headphone mix; send the dry tracks back to the mixer and use the built-in effects to do a complete mix-down to 2-track stereo without using Pro-tools or other software. Using a USB stick. Is this correct? Any downside?

    I have just tried this and it works. In fact I managed to overdub a channel (using an unused input and slot), the overdub was included in the mixed down 2 track, not as a new slot. It would be a nice feature if it could record to a new slot for layering of multiple tracks, but I haven't been able to do that without a DAW. Does anyone know if that is possible?
