Ok I'm back up to speed....well... looks like B52 takes the \"BEH\" route... and copied the Cerwain vegers....they didn't give any kind of frequency plot but I'd bet they peak big time @ 100 hz...and are probably more than 10 db own @ 30 hz... thats the problem with the cheapie speakers... they don't spend the time to properly measure the cabs and print a spec sheet with a response chart. Problem with the GEQ based RTA is there is only 6 bands of EQ below 120 hz... and only 4 of them are in a usable range for your subs... well 5 if you consider the 125 hz band... Thats precious little if you consider that a frequency plot from a REAL speaker manufacturer might have 125 measurement points or more below 100 hz.. There's a LOT of action between 80 hz and 120 hz...but only two bands of EQ...
I think if I were you I'd bridge mono the XTI (on the mids)and give each of the 15's ...800 watts... and let the horns run down to 1100-1200 hz and just run those stereo...That would give you a hell of a wallop and your efx would be available in stereo as well as the guitar sizzle and upper keys and ....vox efx...
I have esentially the same thing in a Yorkville cab... and I bridge a 2450 per cab and run 450 per horn, with 8, 18\" subs running 2 ohm stereo...on an RMX 4050 Kicks major ass...( the LABsubs are too big for this venue so I use 8 proprietary (my design) turbo manifold subs). (the room is 100 x 75)
Great idea on the mids and highs set up.....should dial me in that much better. I see what you're saying about the spaekers...we'll be upgrading as soon as we get out of $$Debt$$. In the mean time the spike I am having at the 100hz +7db I guess...is what it is?
I may be doing a large venue this weekend so the extra juice tip will help out tremendously. As always I appreciate your help Gadget and look forward to trying new tricksies on the beast.
Dra,
I have a PEQ designated to that frequency. I may be wrong and please correct me if I am, but if I have a 100hz +7db after the auto EQ, doesn't that mean that frequency is coming in low so the EQ jacks it up?
If thats so then adjusting the gap between 95 to 105 will make 100hz frequency weaker right?
I mis-read. I thought that the cab had a spike \"natural peak\" at 100. My bad. As soon as \"power\" permits, I'd drop the x-over point to let the 15's cover that 100hz weak spot.
wheewwww,
I thought I was losing my grip on all this. Okay then...following the mono/bridge advice from Gadget should allow me to enough power in order to drop to overlap at 95 or 100.
I'll try it, reEQ and see if that wont solve the issue. I'll repost the results once I get it done.
If the Auto EQ pass was done OUTDOORS away from ALL reflective surfaces... because indoors a squashed low freq usually can indicate a standing wave (coupled LF info) and a null (boost) a cancellation, or mode...If I suspected the boost was legit (I could HEAR the lack of 1000 hz info) (which would surprise me, but not confound me, most horn subs have a PEAK at around 100 hz and fall off below and above that...) I would experiment with the xover and PEQ in that area...
I finished testing the speakers out. Learned something new! I made a cable to combine +/-1 mids and +/-2 highs. This 4 conductor cable was supposed to go into the Biamp in. The speaker also had a biamp Thru. Little did I know this other connection is all i needed. Peavey's manual said nothing on the Biamp wiring procedure. Guess I'm not the brightest guy.
Anyway.....the system is set up....we got the highs in strereo, the mids bridged mono, and the Lows in bridge mono as well. I sweept the delay @100hz with a definite NULL @ 7.90msec. I was way off previously....user error. Gadget you were right with your previous post..I guess folded subs are not that bad delay wise afterall. I now will keep a speaker cable dedicated to sweeping for delays since we have different set ups depending on the venue.
The auto EQ took some time getting the PEQ's dialed in but alas the final product had minimal dips and humps. I reset the gain structure at the end.
We have an outdoor gig this Sunday benefiting a fallen firefighter from West Palm Beach. The system now is PUMPIN and it should turn out well. Now we really have to play well....they'll be able to hear everything now!
Thanks for the much needed info...I've learned quite a bit from Gadget and Dra....thanks fellas.

Try adjusting the x-over point (leaving a gap from 95-105 or so). Lots of things could be tried here.
